untethered nevada coworking

In 2014, David and Jamie Orr launched Cowork Tahoe, the very first coworking space in the Lake Tahoe Basin. Their goal was simple but ambitious: create a space that brought together remote workers, entrepreneurs, and small businesses in a way that inspired productivity and community.

Originally known as Tahoe Mountain Lab, the space quickly outgrew its original home. By 2016, it moved into the renovated Tahoe Daily Tribune building in South Lake Tahoe—a cornerstone of professional collaboration on the South Shore.

In 2021, David and Jamie partnered with Chet and Trevor Pipkin, founders and innovators in their own right (Chet Pipkin being the founder of Belkin Electronics), to open Untethered Workspace in Zephyr Cove, Nevada. Together, they created a dynamic space with modern amenities and a deep commitment to community and flexibility.

Building on that success, the Pipkins joined the ownership of Cowork Tahoe in 2024, bringing both Tahoe coworking spaces under one powerful partnership. This merger created a more cohesive, robust, and accessible experience for members across state lines.

“We believed that small businesses could thrive in small towns. Untethered was built on that belief.”

One Mission, Many Locations

Today, Cowork Tahoe and Untethered serve:

  • Over 300 members
  • More than 100 companies
  • Professionals from a wide range of industries
  • Both locals and visitors who value work-life balance

Our mission remains the same: to create inclusive, collaborative environments where people can work productively, connect meaningfully, and live fully.

Expanding to the Midwest

Untethered Fulton

In 2025, the Untethered community expanded to Fulton, Missouri, with a brand-new location in the heart of the city’s historic Brick District. Co-founded by Seth and Cindy Weinger, Untethered Fulton brings the same spirit of flexibility, community, and innovation to Central Missouri.

The space draws inspiration from Fulton’s rich cultural and historical legacy, including Winston Churchill’s speech at Westminster College and the empowerment legacy of the Missouri School for the Deaf. It also celebrates the energy behind the revitalization of the downtown Brick District, embracing its walkability, charm, and small-town vibrancy.

“Untethered is more than just office space—it’s a movement.”

Seth Weinger

Looking Back—and Forward

Ten years ago, Cowork Tahoe was just an idea. Today, it’s a thriving network of Untethered spaces, partnerships, and people making real impact—both in their industries and in their communities.

From the mountains of Tahoe to the heart of Missouri, we’re proud of how far we’ve come—and excited for what’s ahead.

“Most people overestimate what they can achieve in a year and underestimate what they can achieve in ten.”
